JARED DUGAN

Coding neatnik. Gamer. Renaissance man. Virtual world warrior. Reality escapist.

Why "Game Director"? As a lifelong gamer, born on the tail of the golden age of arcade games and right as home consoles began to take off, my passion for the field could not be greater. I have always been drawn to the arts involved in the creation of games, often breaking my favorite ones down to their basic components and imagining what they would be like if I could add my own characters, worlds, and mechanics. To finally be able to develop video games is something my younger self could only dream of.

What motivates you? I have always been fascinated with video games that are improved through the inclusion of real-world concepts, particularly those involving the sciences. A person with an understanding of physics knows that launching a projectile at a forty-five degree angle will provide the longest range and give an advantage to better hit one's target. This sort of game that obeys the natural laws can inspire young minds to desire knowledge of the world around them, providing tools that would be prohibitively expensive or dangerous to play around with in reality. Games can take it a step further and break the laws of reality down into individual components, such as isolating wind resistance from gravity, allowing one to examine a certain aspect of our universe in ways not otherwise possible. In the very near future virtual reality systems will bring explorative gameplay to a whole new level, allowing people to see and manipulate an object as if it actually existed. These are exciting times for gaming, with technology in graphics and simulation finally providing an adequate representation of the real world, and I am proud to be a part of shaping this future to help others expand their own understanding of reality.

ALYSSA DUGAN

Neat freak. Inspiration hawk. Quoteaholic. Checklist-ist. Digital paint-slinger.

Why "Creative Director"? For me, it's a perfect combination of everything I'm passionate about. Art, design, communication, technology, big ideas, entertainment - these are things that have fascinated me since I was young. I was the kind of kid who came out of a theater ready to work behind-the-scenes on a movie, left a museum eager to design the coolest interactive exhibit on the planet, and finished reading book bursting with ideas for the video game. My mind was constantly working on the details of some fictitious project. Looking back, I've always wanted to design experiences, both conceptually and visually. Today, I have my chance at doing just that.

What inspires you? Great work inspires me. Refreshing photography and art, a funny commercial, classic books, a great speaker, ground-breaking tech, a well conceived article. Anything. Seeing people who are so passionate about whatever they are doing is exciting to me. Also, I'm a huge movie fan- I'm drawn in by the beautifully complex environments and ingeniously captivating stories. Films makers are brilliant; their work is truly imagination igniting.

What motivates you? The world is amazing to me, mind blowing actually, but this seems to be a well kept secret. I want everyone to discover how incredible it all really is. I want students to see history as the greatest stories ever told, see science and math as the key to unlock the world's inter workings, see English and art as the greatest expressions of the human experience and genius, and to see their peers and themselves as the trailblazers of the future. Education shouldn't feel like a system; learning is an experience. One that can be had through exploring, gaming, reading, trial and error, and (honestly) anything. The key is sparking curiosity.

SEAN DUGAN

Code monkey. Gamer. Sci-fi geek. Futurist. Mythbusters buff. Sitcom connoisseur.

What hooked you on software engineering? I've always been interested in technology, and I've always been a gamer. I play videos games everyday. So I thought, what would be cooler than making them? There are unlimited good ideas out there. I want to create the games that don't exist yet.

What inspires you? I am inspired by videos games, movies, TV series, comic books, and everything sci-fi. To me, they're extraordinary because they bend the rules of normal life. The creators started with great ideas and look how far they were able to take them.

What motivates you? I want to see a future where everyone has programming skills – it should be as common as reading because it will become just as vital. We are headed toward a future where programmable technology is going to be everywhere, in everything. Programming allows everyone to have this advantage of controlling their surroundings. I want to be a part of this revolution in computing. My objective is to create software and games that inspires young people to program by showing them the fun of the challenge.

TRISTAN DUGAN

3D addict. Walking encyclopedia. History buff. Nat Geo fanatic. Pro web surfer.

Why "Technical Art Director"? 3D graphics really stand out to me; it is an intricate art form that can be applied to many different areas, such as animation, video games, and special effects. It went from a hobby started at age 9, modeling simple objects with primitive shapes, to recreating entire buildings from the real world. But I really began to love the field when I was far enough along to create original 3D models; the possibilities of what to make were endless. Today, 3D modeling is my passion and I'm happy to have the opportunity to work and manage in the medium. I'm often exploring new technologies and methods in the world of computer graphics.

What inspires you? I'm most inspired by history and culture; I love learning about past and present times, people, and societies. Growing up, history never caught my interest. But once I saw it for what it was, an endless web of incredible stories, I was captivated.

What motivates you? I find that the most passionate learning is driven by interests. I hope to help give people opportunities to discover new interests, as well as show them that pursuing their passion by learning is very attainable. With a few tools, someone can harness their enthusiasm to propel themselves to expertise in any area.
